The NANOBEACON is a single LED emitter which is integrated inside of the OM (Optical Modules) and points upward.

It provides very short signals that are used as a time reference to synchronize the arrival time of the OMs. The time reference will be given by the internal PMT (Photo Multiplier Tube) of the OM.

Several Studies are on going to select the optimal LED model. Light emitting energy and rise-time are the main constraints.
