I am a staff scientist of the Spanish research council CSIC at IFIC in Valencia. My group is involved in experiments at high-energy colliders, in particular the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, the Belle II experiment at KEK and the projects ILC and CLIC for a future linear electron-positron collider.
My main areas of interest are top quark and jet physics, with special emphasis on the development of new experimental techniques to measure top quark properties. With my students I am also deeply involved in studies of the scientific potential of a future electron-positron collider. I have a background in the development and construction of silicon detectors for charged-particle tracking and have made important contributions to the AIDA series of EU projects on instrumentation. Between 2016 and 2020 I organized the "Severo Ochoa" colloquia at IFIC.
What keeps me busy now: from October 2020 until October 2022 I lead the top quark physics effort of the ATLAS experiment. Since 2019 I coordinate the Spanish network for future colliders.

Old contributions to the ATLAS experiment
A summary of activies is in the development of novel pixel detectors for future colliders
During my post-doctoral research (2003-2006) at INFN Pisa I worked on the CMS experiment at the LHC
My earlier work on the ATLAS Semi Conductor Tracker (1998-2001) is listed on my old ATLAS pages
