CROSSGRID CONTRIBUTIONS IN VALENCIA
IFIC
is participating in DataTAG demos
IST2002 and SC2002 using Valencia CrossGrid testbed.
The participation of the IFIC (as Contractor),
UV
and ITI (as IFIC's Subcontractors)
in the CROSSGRID
project can be
divided in the following sections:
In
Work Package 1 (WP1) |
Task 1.3 - Distributed
Data Analysis in HEP - (IFIC; E. Ros, J. Salt, ...) |
Our group will be involved in the development of final user applications
for physics analysis in High Energy Physics running in a distributed mode
in a GRID environment using large distributed databases. There are
two points in wich we want to contribute: the development of distributed
data-mining techniques suited to the HEP field and the definition of a
layered structure, flexible enough to adapt to different experimental set-ups. |
Task 1.4 - Weather
forecast and air pollution modelling - (UV; R. Crespo) |
Department of Theoretical Chemistry of UV (University of Valencia)
will be a subcontractor of CSIC (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas).
The objectives of this taks to be coverd by the ICMol
group will be to provide a representative collection of sample applications
of GRID tools which will be developed by the atmospheric/oceanographic
community. |
In
Work Package 3 (WP3) |
Task 3.2 - Grid
resource management - (ITI; J. Bernabeu, A. Ferré) |
The main objective of this task is to develop a GRID resource management
system based on self-adaptive scheduling agents for scheduling a particular
parallel application submitted to a GRID, with the goal of achieving a
reasonable trade-off between resource usage efficiency and application
speedup, in accordance with users's optimisation preferences.
ITI (Instituto de Tecnologías
Informáticas) people will be involved in this taks in a close relation
with the UAB (Universitat Autònoma
de Barcelona) group. The contractual status will of this person will be
the 'In-house-consultant'. |
Task 3.5 -Test
and Integration - (IFIC; Task leader S. González) |
The main goals of the tests and integration are to deliver a release
version of WP3 before each prototype. Such a release will be a base for
further development in other workpackages, especially for the WP1 and WP2.
Task 3.5 is very strongly correlated with the prototypes released in WP4.
A feedback from other workpackages (WP1, WP2, WP4 and the diseemination
WP5) is highly appreciated and will be taken into account before releasing
each prototype version. |
In
Work Package 4 (WP4) |
Task 4.1 - Testbed
Set-up and incremental evolution - (IFIC; S. González, J. Sánchez,
......) |
The aim of this task is to obtain an infraestructure as flexible
as possible that will provide testbeds for other WP's to develop and test
their work.
The coordination with DATAGRID
will be very important and the CSIC groups
(IFCA and IFIC)
will define common strategies to optimize this service. |
Task 4.3 - Infraestructure
support - (IFIC; Task leader J. Salt) |
The idea is to provide testbed sites with easy and flexible
fabric management tools and network support for the development of local
grid infraestructures and its interconnection.
From the point of view of our laboratory, this activity give us the
oportunity to export our 'know-how' obtained in the deployment of our PC
farm. |
