LSND and MiniBooNE anomalies as a signal of heavy sterile neutrinos

Abstract

We examine a recently proposed explanation of the LSND and MiniBooNEanomalies, given in terms of a radiatively decaying sterile neutrino N. We check compatibility of this scenario with the existing experimental data on radiative tau-lepton and K-meson decays. We also analyse perspectives to test this radiativelydecaying sterile neutrino model using different K-meson, D-meson and tau-lepton decays.

Abstract

Lepton flavor violation, with total lepton no. conserved, has already been seen in neutrino oscillations. It may show up in significant strength at the terascale, hence signaling completely new physics. Proposed dilepton final states, showing such an effect, have already been studied theoretically with reference to the LHC. In the same context, we perform a general analysis of operators yielding quadrilepton final states (from q \bar q annihilation) such as \ell_i \ell_i \bar \ell_j \bar \ell_j (i \neq j = e, \mu, \tau) which cannot be probed in rare \mu or \tau trileptonic decays.We will present the sensitivity reach of the new physics scale \Lambda corresponding to each of the considered operators for 14 TeV pp collisions and with an integrated luminosity of 300 fb^-1. Signal enhancement in specific models will also be discussed.

Abstract

Calculating the RGEs of a supersymmetric model requires the use of long andcomplicated general formulas. In addition, to apply them it is necessary to know the Lagrangian in its full form. Building the complete Lagrangian of models with small representations of SU(2), SU(3) might be easy but if the model has arbitrary representations of an arbitrary gauge group it can be hard and error prone. It is advisable then to automatize all this as much as possible using computer programs (e.g., SARAH). Susyno is a Mathematica package that does just that: given any gauge group and any field content it calculates the 2-loop renormalization group equations of the corresponding model.
