With great sadness we announce that our colleague and friend Ximo Prades passed away on 31st August, after a long illness that he has faced in an admirable way, keeping until the very end his excellent scientific activity. Ximo has been an exceptional person, both at the human and professional levels. We are distressed and shaken by this tragic loss of a young life. We all will miss Ximo greatly, but his memory will always remain among us.

Ximo was born in Castellón de la Plana (Spain) in 1963. He got his degree in Physics at the University of Valencia in 1986 and his doctorate, in the same university, in 1991. As postdoctoral researcher he did stays in Marseille (1991-1993) and Copenhagen (1993-1995). Ximo became Lecturer at the University of Granada in 1997.
