PRESENTATION : ( pincha aqui para leer en español )

The course GRID and e-Science will be held at the Instituto de Fisica Corpuscular (IFIC) in Valencia, during days 06 to 09 July 2010 and is the 7th edition of the course that year and in turn, organize Institute of Physics Cantabria (IFCA) and IFIC in the program of graduate courses CSIC.

The course is aimed at students and researchers who want to run applications in the GRID-CSIC, and within international initiatives EGI (European Grid Initiative), and national e-Science.

With the establishment of the infrastructure for distributed computing GRID-CSIC, is available to all researchers an environment in which to run their applications in advanced computing resources and storage - in its first phase (2008 - 2010) over 8000 CPUs and a total storage capacity of more than 1000 terabytes (1 petabyte).

In addition the use of common technologies and their location within the framework of international projects, makes the compatibility is assured in the national e-science, and international projects such as EGI, with more resources and potential for collaboration with many European groups.

OBJECTIVES :

Objectives are to disseminate the latest advances in distributed computing, grid and cloud computing, in terms of projects, infrastructure and technologies. Knowledge Will be made available to the students from basic skills to use the grid, to tools and advanced applications. Will be discussed in detail the various components, user-level middleware, and sample applications, and use of grid infrastructure at international level and in production environments.

Emphasis will be placed for use in a real environment can also show the tools available, frequent errors and possible solutions. It is a practical course with introductory sessions and to be carried out theoretical sessions followed by practice.

AGENDA :

- Computing Infrastructure GRID-CSIC
- International projects distributed computing infrastructure (EGI)
- National Initiative for E-Science
- Distribution of gLite Middleware
- PKI-Based Security
- Job Management
- Data Management
- Monitoring
- Use Cases and Application porting
- Practices

AIMED AT :

Researchers wishing to run their applications on the GRID-CSIC, and distributed computing environments Engineers Graduates and final year students interested in distributed and grid computing.

RECOMMENDATIONS :

It is important and desirable that each participant attending brings a laptop. Because the room conditions there is a limit of 30 attendees, so it is recommended to register as soon as possible.

LANGUAGE COURSE :

The course is international, so it will be given in English in response to students who do not understand Spanish. During the practice sessions the questions and answers will be given in both English and Spanish.
