Resumen
The top quark is probably the most peculiar fermion of the Standard Model and plays an essential role in the stringent precision tests of the theory. The experiments at the LHC can determine the top properties with unprecedent precision. In this seminar several properties of the top quark will be addressed giving special emphasis to the role of the top quark within the Standard Model. The connection between the top quark and the possible existence of new physics is explored. The latest results from the ATLAS experiment on top quark physics are discussed.
