Resumen
I present a concise review of where we stand in particle physics today. After an introduction where a general overview is sketched, I come to the central question of the Higgs: most open problems in particle physics are, directly or indirectly, related to the electroweak symmetry breaking mechanism, which has not been unveiled experimentally sofar. The LHC has been designed to clarify this problem. We discuss the physics of the electro-weak sector in the standard model and beyond.
